Bluebonnet Pomskies

Creating your new

best friend

Here you will find that we work hard to create sound dogs, and we take pride in the quality we provide to families, but how is that done?! Great question! Below is the week by week detail of how we work with your puppy to ensure the best is leaving our ranch at 8 weeks old.

Week 1

  • After the puppies are born, they are closely monitored to ensure they are consuming enough milk, putting on weight after each feeding, and that they look good.
  • After 24 hours, we begin stretching their paws, touching their bodies, and stimulating them through touch.
  • We continue to monitor them multiple times a day by weighing before and after they nurse to ensure weight gain, and that they physically look good.
  • The puppies are kept inside our home where they are exposed to family noises.

Week 2

  • We continue to monitor weight gain before and after nursing.
  • We begin stimulating the puppies in a more rigorous way by lifting them in seated positions, and continuing to stimulate by touch, and stretching their limbs.

Week 3

  • The puppies are beginning to crawl around and their eyes and ears should be open by now.
  • Therapy dog desensitization sound scapes are being played multiple times a day. These sounds include baby cries, drills, loud trucks, thunder, and many more sounds your pup might experience in their life.
  • We now clense their paws and bodies daily with grooming wipes to help keep them from transferring fecal matter they may have stepped in and injesting it.
  • Puppies are being pee pad potty trained.
  • Puppies are receiving a daily "vet check" where their teeth, ears, and paws are all "checked" to desensitize them to these touches.
  • Continuing early neurological stimulation exercises.
